Mayor of Antrim, Councillor Brian Graham and Alex Clyde of Dogs Trust are joined by some of the dogs which will be enjoying Bark in the Park in Antrim later this month.

Antrim Borough Council and Dogs Trust are delighted to announce that an exciting new event will be taking place on Saturday, August 30 from 12noon to 3pm for everyone’s four-legged friends.

‘Bark In The Park’ will prove that dogs really are man’s best friend.

The highlight of the day will be a fun dog show for competitive canines compèred by Carolyn Stewart from U105.

Get your doggy an MOT health check from local vets, make sure they never get lost again by taking advantage of the free microchipping, meet some of the VIPs (very important pooches) from Dogs Trust Ballymena and talk to the council’s Borough Wardens and staff from Dogs Trust on all things doggy.

All this, combined with a variety of doggy themed children’s entertainment including a dance workshop and arts and crafts, adds up to ensuring you, and your dog, will have a ball.

Karen Steele, Development Manager (Visitor Servicing), said: “Antrim Borough Council is delighted to be working in partnership with Dogs Trust for this exciting, new event.

“Antrim Lough Shore Park is very popular with dogs and their owners and is an ideal location. It will be an amazing day out for all the family with competitions and activities for dog owners, their families, and of course, the dogs themselves to enjoy.”

Ronnie Milsop, Education & Community Manager for Dogs Trust Northern Ireland, said: “We are all very excited to be bringing the Bark in the Park concept to Antrim Lough Shore Park.

“This promises to be a wonderful celebration of dogs and a fantastic fun day for those with two legs and four. A big thank you to Antrim Borough Council for allowing us to host the event at their wonderful site, to all the local vets who have kindly offered their services for free and to all stallholders.”

Admission is free to the event and there will be a 50 pence entry fee to enter the fun dog show classes. Please note that all dogs must be kept on leads and under control at all times.
