The arc21 Waste Management Education Bus will be visiting Coleman’s Garden Centre in Templepatrick on Friday, May 9 from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

In the afternoon the bus will be at the newly opened Coleman’s Garden Centre at Junction 1 from 1pm to 4pm.

Council staff will be on hand during these times to discuss all your composting needs, from the best way to compost at home to how to get the best from your brown bin.

There will be also be discounts and giveaways and a chance to enter the prize draw on the day to win a £50 voucher for Coleman’s Garden Centre.

Also as part of Compost Week, Antrim Borough Council will be giving away a free bag of compost on Saturday, May 3 to those who brings materials to be recycled to any of the Household Recycling Centres at Newpark, Crumlin or Randalstown.

Leona Donaghy, Environmental Awareness Officer at Antrim Borough Council, said: “Using your brown bin or home composter to collect food and garden waste stops it from being dumped in the ground. When this happens it releases harmful greenhouse gases at local landfill sites. All types of food waste, with the exception of liquids and oils, can go in your brown bin and collecting the food waste couldn’t be easier. Just use your free kitchen caddy and compostable liners supplied by the council.”
