Templepatrick man, Kenneth McEwan. Substantive Watch Commander at Whitla Station, has been presented with the The NIFRS Individual Trainer of the Year award.
Currently promoted to Temporary Station Commander North West District Belfast. 28 years’ service.
Kenny was responsible for the development and implementation of High Volume Pump training in NIFRS. He produced and continues to develop the training package for instructors and trainees alike.
He also has made contributions to HVP nationally having been requested to lecture on the subject at the Fire Service College at Morton on Marsh England and recently as a Subject Matter Advisor was asked to respond to the recent floods in the UK and provide tactical resilience when NI was faced with the recent tidal surge issues.
