A local family is backing a campaign by local pharmacies to raise money for the Cancer Fund for Children.

Martin and Cathy Roundtree from Antrim benefitted from Cancer Fund for Children’s services when their little son Andrew (five) was diagnosed with cancer two years ago.

They were delighted to launch the Ulster Chemists’ Association fundraising drive at their local McKay Pharmacy in Templepatrick recently.

UCA has been fundraising for Cancer Fund for Children for two years now, raising over £50,000.

The charity offers practical, emotional and financial support to local families affected by cancer.

Cathy said: “We are delighted the UCA pharmacies are getting on board and raising money for such a worthwhile cause.

“I can’t praise or thank the charity enough for the support it continues to offer my family.

“After Andrew was diagnosed a charity Specialist came out and did play therapy with him.

“She was like a total ray of sunshine and Andrew loved seeing her smiling face coming through the door each week. She was someone for me to talk to about everything as well.

“As a family we also enjoyed stays at the charity’s short break facility which helped us recuperate and gave us the chance to spend precious quality time together as a family.”

Keep an eye out for collection boxes in your local pharmacy.
