Northern Trust Macmillan Unit volunteer Deborah Hoey (centre) receives her Millennium Volunteer 50 Hours certificate from Acting Deputy Ward Manger, Macmillan Unit, Deirdre Moore (left) and Macmillan Volunteer Coordinator for the Northern Trust, Elma McCracken (right).

Deborah, from Glarryford, was presented with her 50 Hours certificate having volunteered at the Macmillan Unit since April 2013. Elma McCracken, Macmillan Volunteer Co-ordinator for the Northern Trust commented: “Deborah first became involved in volunteering at the Macmillan Unit out of a desire to support people who were coping with a cancer diagnosis.

“She has shown commitment to the patients and carers there by volunteering in meet and greet and ward-assisting roles on a fortnightly basis. All the staff and other volunteers at the Macmillan Unit wish her well in the next stage of her career.”

Deborah has recently completed A-Level studies at Ballymena Academy and in September hopes to travel to Scotland to study nursing.
