Toomebridge-based McCauley Trailers has been assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to win business worth almost £200,000 for its MAC commercial trailers in Estonia.

The contract is to supply trailers to the Estonian Ministry of Defence in Tallinn, custom-built to the client’s specifications. The company has taken part in a series of Invest NI trade missions to Estonia and other Baltic markets. McCauley Trailers Ltd is a specialist in trailer design and fabrication. The company has invested substantial resources in research, development and product innovation and supplies trailers to a wide range of companies.

The latest deal in the region was outlined by Jonathan Hanna, McCauley’s Operations Manager, at the start of the latest week-long Invest NI trade mission to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Mr Hanna said: “Winning business with such a prestigious customer as the Ministry of Defence is a tremendous boost for us in a market which is becoming increasingly important to the company.

“We’ve been exporting to Estonia since 2007 and find it an excellent marketplace in which to do business.

“The presence which we have in Estonia, and are now benefiting from, is the result of our participation in earlier Invest NI trade missions. Estonia is now a very successful market for us and one which offers relatively easy access to Russia, where we are currently setting up a dealership in St. Petersburg. This is an exciting development for the company because it opens the door to a new export destination.”
