McCrea welcomes Knockmore re-opening

South Antrim MP has welcomed news that Translink is set to re-open the Knockmore Line.

As reported by the Times earlier this month, local councillors were given assurances by Translink that it’s “in their vision” to re-open the rail line linking Antrim and Crumlin.

William McCrea MP expressed his appreciation to all those within Translink “who finally listened to the voice of those representing Crumlin”.

“As Member of Parliament, I have been consistently vocal on the virtues of reopening the Knockmore line,” Mr McCrea said.

He added: “The present services in public transport are not adequate for the community and this reopening is a priority for the development of the area.

“I trust that the suggested date of 2018 will be brought forward, as this wait only impedes essential progress for the area.

“Many of us as elected representatives campaigned for this news and therefore it is to be warmly welcomed.

“I thank Mr McGreevy, General Manager of Rail Service at Translink, for his personal attention to this matter but ask him not to close his mind to further development of the line including connection to the International Airport.”
