Last week’s Police and Community Partnership meeting at Greenmount College focused on rural crime and helping farmers secure their properties.

Among those in attendance was UUP Councillor Paul Michael who raised concerns around rural crime in the borough and the issues surrounding it including theft, burglary and fly-tipping.

Hde said: “I welcome the Farm Watch scheme being promoted by the PSNI and would encourage all farmers within the borough to sign up to the scheme.

“The benefits are there for farmers and this can go along way to protecting their farms and their contents.”
